Angels We Have Heard On High

This advanced piano arrangement will fill performers and listeners with Christmas joy. The introduction features a descending line built on parallel thirds which will soon segue into the familiar “Gloria” tune from the chorus. Then the first verse is a straight-forward presentation of this carol. By contrast, the second verse includes several surprises: the melody is now in the middle register, being carried by the left hand thumb, while the right hand plays a Christmassy-sounding ostinato in the higher register. Not only that, but the meter is now 12/8 instead of 4/4, and these new subdivisions will give the arrangement a lively pulse. Finally, the last verse resumes the standard 4/4 meter and is also played in a new key – G flat major! Have fun with all the flats :) This advanced piano arrangement is suitable for church services or any other performance types during Advent and Christmas.
