Of the Father's Love Begotten (Easy Piano)
The Christmas hymn “Of the Father’s Love Begotten” is based on a 13th century plainsong. Back then music was not written according to our modern conventions, which means there is no time signature and the music just flows phrase by phrase according to the natural flow of speech. This is why in this easy piano arrangement the bar lines are dotted, because they don’t signify the end of a metrical measure, rather the end of a chant phrase. This means that you can take your time in between phrases and take full advantage of those fermatas! In this easy / early intermediate piano arrangement the right hand plays a straight-forward melody while the left hand plays a parallel line in counterpuntal fashion. In the last measure both hands will move to the higher register and echo the last phrase in a chime-like fashion.
